Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how What's The Point? ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application, websites, and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy and to our Terms of Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details — your name, email address, and a password (stored only as a secure one-way hash).
- Consent record — the date and time you accepted these terms.
- Communications — messages you send us for support.
Rewards data we collect on your behalf
When you link a card-issuer account, we collect and store the rewards information read from your authenticated session, which may include: your card product names, the last few digits of each card, your pooled rewards points balance, and your points transaction history (dates, merchant descriptions, categories, points earned or redeemed, and associated amounts).
Technical and diagnostic data
- Basic device and app information and log data needed to operate the Service.
- Sanitized diagnostic logs used to debug harvesting; these are scrubbed to remove email addresses and full card/account numbers before storage.
2. What we do NOT collect
- Your card-issuer password or one-time passcodes. You enter these directly into the issuer's own login screen on your device; we never see, receive, or store them.
- Full card or account numbers. We only ever retain the last few digits, used to tell your cards apart.
- We do not access your card-issuer account for anything other than reading the rewards data described above, and we never make changes, payments, or redemptions.
3. How we use your information
- to provide, maintain, and improve the Service and display your rewards;
- to create and secure your account and record your acceptance of our terms;
- to respond to your support requests;
- to detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or abuse; and
- to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. How we share information
We share information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers — vendors that host our infrastructure or help us operate the Service, under confidentiality obligations and only as needed;
- Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of What's The Point?, our users, or others; and
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter only as required for legitimate business or legal purposes. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a commercially reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
6. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including transport encryption and hashed passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
You may access or update your account information in the app, and you may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example, under the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request its deletion or correction, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email info@whatsthepoint.cc. We will verify your request and respond as required by applicable law.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. United States
The Service is operated in the United States and intended for U.S. residents. Your information is processed and stored in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
